The Georgian style, which is also commonly referred to as the Federal style, will usually contain balconies that adorn the stairs that ascend to the top of the two story entry way. The shape of these types of houses is rectangular with chimneys located on the side or end of the house. A central entry hall is another defining characteristic of this style of home. You are likely to see columns adorning the impressive and stately facades of homes built in this style. However, Georgian style homes rarely will be found to have a front porch, but will commonly be found to have rear decks. Generally, the ridge roofline will run parallel to the road, with the front door usually being in the middle of the house where you will find windows on either side that are equally spaced.
